  • The Honey Creek Watershed comprises 143 square miles.

  • It constitutes 70% of the land known as the "Upper Great Miami River."

  • Land use is: 77% agriculture, 10% urban, 12% forest, and 1% water.

  • The buried valley aquifer within the watershed provides over 36 million gallons of drinking water per day to the Dayton area.

  • The Honey Creek was identified by the EPA as being exceptional quality.

  • The watershed contains 290 wetlands, with a concentration of high quality wetlands along Honey Creek, between Tipp City and New Carlisle.

  • The Honey Creek Watershed Association partnered with local affiliates to preserve over 400 acres of riparian lands.

  • 87% of the watershed consists of “prime farmland,” some of the riches and most productive agricultural land in the state.
